About the Library

Welcome to the HSE University Library!

We are at the center of the entire university community. Our story began in 1993, and today the Library consists of 8 cozy branches located across different campus buildings. The most modern one opened its doors to patrons in September 2019 in the building on Pokrovsky Boulevard.

Our Collections

At your disposal is not only an impressive printed collection, but also one of the best subscriptions to electronic resources among Russian universities. The Library provides access to numerous domestic and foreign platforms that can be used both inside the campus and remotely.

Our Mission

We create comfortable environment for study and research – from a welcoming atmosphere to cutting‑edge digital services. We believe that the key skill in today's world is the ability to find information, so we do not just lend books – we teach you how to work with data. Come to our individual and group workshops on working with electronic resources, consultations on search strategies and information analysis, including the use of neural networks to amplify your research – Library specialists will teach you to feel confident in any information space.

Our Services

Every day, more than 2,500 visitors choose us. We value your time, so we have introduced a maximum of online services: remote registration, a digital library card, digital delivery service, streamlined process of acquiring literature from Russian and foreign publishers through SmartPoint system, and many more.
We strive to make you feel at home in every Library department. And we are open not only to students, but also to colleagues from other libraries – we share our experience through internships and educational programmes.
